PIER LEADERSHIP: Sponsors are the bedrock of the Battleship Cove Community Boating Program. Now entering its eighth season, BCCB is poised to deliver its offerings to an even broader audience.

Follow this link to learn how you, your company, or your foundation can support this blossoming youth sailing program!

In cooperation with the Fall River School Department, Battleship Cove Community Boating (BCCB) runs "Making the Cut," a wooden boat-building course in which middle school students from Greater Fall River construct plywood boats and canoes and then take to the water at Battleship Cove. The vessels then remain at the Community Boating Center, where they will be utilized in the museum’s youth sailing program.

Funded with a 21st Century Learning Centers grant and support from the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics Association, this innovative program takes learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. Throughout the hands-on project, students follow detailed instructions to learn many different industrial arts skills.

PT Boat Coordinator Don Shannon leads the program, assisted by longtime volunteers Harry Miller and Roland Cote, both Navy veterans who have contributed to the museum with projects like the YAGR exhibit. If you are interested in supporting Battleship Cove with funds, equipment, or as a volunteer, please contact the museum at (508) 678-1100 or battleship@battleshipcove.org.
