Over the last few months, we’ve been struck two-fold by inflated fuel prices. The high cost of gasoline makes it difficult for families and seniors—two essential “day trip” audiences—to visit the Cove, which then lowers ticket sales, gift shop sales, and food concession revenues during our peak season. These funds simply cannot be recuperated in the off-season. Equally important, our projected utility costs for 2009 have increased a staggering $150,000. That number is nearly impossible to absorb if current visitation trends continue.

We’re doing everything we can to responsibly conserve energy, and we want to remain open 362 days per year, as we have since our inception more than 40 years ago. We cannot do it without your help. Your contribution to this supplemental appeal will assist us to continue our vital educational and memorial mission.

Every donation helps; please be as generous as possible.
