CONSERVATION IN ACTION
Conservation is a constant activity at Battleship Cove. Our staff and volunteers work constantly to help preserve, repair, restore and interpret our world class collection of ships
At present there is a team working on the USS
Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., in various compartments of the ship and on the USS
Massachusetts especially on the Bridge areas. Volunteers have now started painting the Hiddensee and surveying her interior. The USS
Massachusetts Living History Group
http://ussmasslhg.com are also helping to restore and present their historic office space on the battleship and will soon start work on a 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun. The submarine is cosseted by retired submariners on special weekends. So you can see that there’s a lot going on.
