BRIGHT LIGHT ON BOARD: If you don’t
recognize this Battleship Cove board member, then you haven’t been following
the news in recent years: Since his appointment as a Cove corporator, Director
Carl Sawejko has been revered by the museum for his creative insights and his
dependable attendance at virtually every Cove event. Whether it’s an intimate
social mixer or a soiree on the battleship fantail, we always know we can count
on Carl to pitch in.
What does
“pitching in” mean to the owner of Sawjeko Communications? A lot. Co-chair
of Shamrock & Roll and Victory at Sea I-IV, Carl routinely subscribes to all
Cove fund raisers, and while you probably remember his cheerful countenance and
infectious optimism, you probably didn’t know that he works side-by-side
for weeks with museum staff, fine-tuning all the details. The consummate ambassador,
Carl consistently punctuates his volunteerism with charitable support, most significantly
by donating the museum’s new $19,000 voice-mail system.
