Director George Pelletier takes in an afternoon at the Cove during Lost at Sea with Bob Ballard, a Member's event.

PIER LEADERSHIP: Battleship Cove Director George Pelletier has been involved with Fall River's waterfront development for more than 40 years. A Spindle City native, Mr. Pelletier attended Fall River public schools and Thibideau Business College before the outbreak of World War II. In 1942, Mr. Pelletier enlisted in the army, landing in Normandy on D-Day+6.

After returning from the war, Mr. Pelletier joined the Fall River Fire Department, retiring in 1984. Subsequently, this entrepreneur started his own insurance business and shortly thereafter became the President of the State Pier and Chairman of the Port Authority.

Mr. Pelletier's relationship with Battleship Cove began in 1962, as he and a group of associates developed a vision for the memorial museum. A former president of the board, this dedicated director often strolls through BB59's passageways greeting youngsters, and has, on more than one occasion, even helped shovel out chow in the mess line!
