What's cooking in the BB59 galley? You'll have to listen to Harold Nye's oral history!

"STIRRING" MEMORIES: Stirring. Baking. Broiling. Frying. Former BB59 cook Harold Nye did it all on USS Massachusetts. Enlisting in the Navy early in World War II, the late Mr. Nye served in the galley on board USS Massachusetts and continued his relationship with the ship as a lifelong supporter of the museum that preserves her.

As a member of the board of directors and as a private citizen, Mr. Nye promoted the museum throughout the region for nearly four decades. Today, visitors can listen to Mr. Nye's sea tales in the BB59 galley on one of the many oral history monitors he generously funded.

Incidentally, for the curious-minded, Mr. Nye privately informed us that, yes, if you knew the right people, you could get a pizza on board! Guess what? You still can!
