As our youth programs coordinator, Mandie Owens works to develop the Nautical Nights camping program for Scouts and families, and to organize seasonal events such as the Haunted Ship and Seaside Cinema. She also developed and manages Camp Cove, a recreational youth day camp.

Currently working on her M.A. in Early Childhood Education at Rhode Island College, Ms. Owens holds a B.A. in English from Boston University, where she also studied Theater Arts. In addition, she has obtained her certification for teaching in Massachusetts.

This Battleship Cove board member has distinguished himself both on and off the battlefield.

AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN: Battleship Cove recently welcomed Dr. John Sbrega, President of Bristol Community College, to its distinguished board of directors. An Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War, Dr. Sbrega is a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY. He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in history (with distinction) from Georgetown University. After acquiring those degrees, he continued his education as a Fulbright Scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He later completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University, Graduate School of Education. Author of several books and articles, Dr. Sbrega serves on several other boards and committees, and has an extensive record of public service and professional affiliations.
