May 7 - Marine Museum, Expressive Print Making; Colors of the SeaBeginning Printmaking Techniques - All levels are welcome.
Learn expressive printmaking using a variety of paints and inks by hand press from artist Sheila Oliveira of the Greater Fall River Art Association. Class will cover color use, texture, line, dark and light field printing theories. All participants will leave with a finished piece. Class is $40.00 per person and includes instruction, supplies and coffee. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 508-674-3533. 6 participants per session.May 7 - USS Massachusetts Field DayHere is your chance to volunteer for a day and help preserve a World War II Battleship! Lunch and supplies provided. Advanced registration is required. Please contact the Director of Education at 508-678-1100 ext. 110.May 21 - Firepower TourJoin an expert on battleship gun technology in this intimate tour of Big Mamie's 16" guns. This tour walks visitors through the process of loading and firing, as well as providing historical context. 9:00am-3:00pm. Includes lunch and a souvenir Snack Ration Box. $45 Members, $55 Non-members. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 508-678-1100 ext. 102.May 21 - Marine Museum, Family Fun Day10:00am-3:00pm. Free to members, $5.00 non-member children, $6.00 AdultsMay 28 - Family Nautical NightSpend the night on a WWII Battleship and sleep in restored Navy bunks, eat meals 'chow-line" style and participate in ship activities. Guests will enjoy all-day admission and two delicious meals. $65 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 508-678-1100 ext. 101.May 30 - Memorial Day CeremonyHonor the men and woman who have given their lives for freedom. Tradition military observance will take place at 12:00pm with the raising of the flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony is open to the public at no charge.June 4 - Galley TourCooking for over 2000 crew members was a momentous task! Join this behind the scenes tour of areas of the galley not open to the public with Director of Education, Emily Bryant and explore what it took to feed the brave sailors of the battleship three times a day. The tour includes a delicious galley-style meal in the actual mess hall and a souvenir Snack Ration Box. 11:00am start time. $45 Members, $55 Non-members. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 508-678-1100 ext. 102.June 18 - Submarine DayHow does it sink and float? What did SONAR sound like? The spotlight is on the USS Lionfish for the day, with special guided tours and programs given by submarine veterans. Make a periscope and a floating/sinking sub in our FUNshops. Tours included with general admission, FUNshops are included with general admission.June 11 - Marine Museum, Lighthouse Gallery Opening1:00-3:00pm. On view will be lighthouse art created by local students. Enjoy a chance to meet with the artists and find out what inspired them.June 26- Clam Boil on the FantailEnjoy a summer evening with a waterfront view on the deck of the battleship, feasting on a classic clam boil with all the fixings. Members: Adults $35, Children $15. Non-members: $40 Adults, $18 Children. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please note: The fireworks are put on by the City of Fall River - not the museum. This is dependent on the city's plan and weather permitting. $5.00 per person. No bags or coolers allowed.July 9 - Family Nautical NightSpend the night on a WWII Battleship and sleep in restored Navy bunks, eat chow-style meals and enjoy educational nautical programming.
