HIDDENSEE'S NAMESAKES: The Hiddensee is named after the island of Hiddensee, a popular tourist destination in the Baltic Sea. However, she was originally named Rudolf Egelhofer, after a German socialist and revolutionary who was born 1896 in Schwabing.
