A major milestone in naval warfare, the Battle of Tsushima pitted an outdated Russian armada against an agile, well-trained opponent. The swifter Japanese ships overwhelmed their undisciplined opponents with superior agility and firepower, resulting in a humiliating rout of the Russian fleet in 1905.
