Linda Grant DePauw, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of American History at George
Washington University. She is founder and President of The Minerva Center, Inc.,
and the Minerva Society for the Study of Women and War, and serves as principal
advising scholar and reference to other experts in the field. Judy Barrett
Litoff, Ph.D., Bryant University, Professor of History and authority on women
and WW2. She is author or editor of 13 books and more than 100 articles, book
chapters, and reviews, most of which focus on U.S. women WW2. Dr. Litoff will
act as a historical consultant. Katherine Honey, Director of the Women
at Work Museum in Attleboro, MA, and former school teacher. Mrs. Honey will collaborate
with educational program development for the project and work to share resources
on special events to recognize womens contributions to our history.
Margaret Vining, is Curatorial Specialist in Military History at the Smithsonian
Institution and Secretary-General of the US Commission on Military History. Vining
will consult on the topics of uniform design and production, providing expertise
on their design history and helping to locate unique articles for display.
Jill Carey is an Associate Professor of Fashion and specialist in historic
clothing at Lasell College. She will help develop content for the uniform design
exhibit. The research work will be carried out by students in her fashion history
classes. Evelyn M. Cherpak, Ph.D., Head of Naval Historical Collections
at the Naval War College, Newport, RI, will provide research support with access
to the archives and oral history recordings of women in the Navy during WWII.
Memory Holloway, Ph.D., is a Professor of Art History and a member of the
Portuguese Studies Department at UMass-Dartmouth. As an expert in visual communication,
Holloway will contribute analysis of war-related visual media. In addition, she
will research the impact of war on the local Portuguese-American community by
investigating the stories of soldiers whose names appear on the plaques of the
Memorial Room. Gail Russell, is Associate Professor in Nursing at
UMass-Dartmouth. A nurse during the Vietnam era, she brings both a vast knowledge
of the subject and a rich experience as an educator. Russell will advise on the
medical topics of the exhibit. Capt. Barbara Wilson, Ret. USAF, was
the first WAR to complete a B.A. under the Operation Bootstrap program.
Ronald Adams is a seventh-grade teacher at Broad Meadows Middle School
in Quincy. His history class curriculum centers on the ship-building industry
at the Fore River Shipyard. His class has conducted extensive research about Rosie
the Riveter and Winnie the Welder, including interviews with women who worked
in the shipyard. Richard Bath, is Chair of Fashion/Design and Director
of the Yamawaki Arts and Cultural Center at Lasell College. Mr. Bath will assist
with fund-raising and coordinate learning opportunities with students and faculty
at Lasell College. In addition, the Gallery at the Yamawaki Center will be a site
for exhibit testing for audience impact to subject interpretation. |
