Workshops for September Homeschool Day:

  • 10:00 AM Boat Building: Learn about the process of ship building throughout the last 100 years. From choice of materials, shape, rationing, and workers, put your ideas to the test and see if you could have designed a ship for the United States to use. Furthermore, transfer paper ideas into your own ship and test them out in our blow-up raceways. Activity includes materials to make a wood boat.

    Age Recommendation 5+.

  • 10:00 AM Loopy Looms: Learn about the history of Fall River’s textile industry past among the old mills. Track the rise and fall of the industry as times changed and technology was developed. Additionally, you can try your hand at weaving your very own textile by making a potholder. Activity includes a take home potholder.

    Includes a take home item.

    Age Recommendation 8+

  • 10:00 AM Morse Code: Learn about the importance      and usage of the morse code system. From the morse code alphabet,      deciphering messages, and using your sense of hearing, students will      immerse themselves in this one of a kind experience as it takes place in      our of our original radio rooms. Age Recommendation 9+

  • 11:15 AM Victory Gardens and Rationing: Learn about the women and families that kept our troops fed by working the agricultural fields and making their own victory gardens at home. Furthermore, learn about popular WW2 recipes and how rationing affected daily meals. Activity includes one mini terracotta pots, soils, seed, and painting materials.

    Includes a take home item.

    Age Recommendation 5+

  • ALMOST SOLD OUT! 11: 15 AM Nautical Knots and Rope Making: Learn about the history of      knot tying through the ages and how sailors used different knots for      different situations. Once you’ve practiced tying the ropes, choose from      several options to make your own knot.

    Includes a take home item.

    Age Recommendation 8+

Where do I park?

Parking is available at the DCR parking lot at Fall River Heritage state park. Parking is free and if the lot is full the dirt lot in the fenced in area across from the paved parking lot.
