Workshops for June Homeschool Day:

• Victory Gardens and Rationing (10:00 AM): Learn about the women and families that kept our troops fed by working the agricultural fields and making their own victory gardens at home. Furthermore, learn about popular WW2 recipes and how rationing affected daily meals. Activity includes one mini terracotta pots, soils, seed, and painting materials.
• Sea Shanties (11:15 AM): Listen to the rhythm of the waves in this musical class. Learn about the history of sea shanties and why they were so culturally significant. You’ll be able to sing with your friends to help complete a task just like the sailors of old, then add your voice to the wind by coming up with your own shanty!
• SOLD OUT! Loopy Looms (1:30 PM): Learn about the history of Fall River’s textile industry past among the old mills. Track the rise and fall of the industry as times changed and technology was developed. Additionally, you can try your hand at weaving your very own textile by making a potholder. Activity includes a take home potholder.
